That night it snowed, and the snow continued to fall throughout the following week. It was several days before we could begin tracking Rosie, but then we received her signal right away. Bill suspected she would migrate towards Hayden Valley, in the center of Yellowstone National Park, and that’s exactly what she did.
And how did you know she would do that?
The landscape and resources of Hayden Valley support many animals, including bison. However, by the time Rosie arrived, most of the bison had already migrated to better winter ranges. The valley was covered under a blanket of deep, white snow, and the only sign of life was Rosie herself.
