Where the Bison Roam

Act 1,  Scene 1,  Page 4 of 47

Dr. McAiry
You must be Inspector Klulas. I’m McAiry, the Bird Man of Yellowstone.

Inspector
Really?

Dr. Lee
Stop that, Harry!

Inspector, Dr. McAiry is researching how birds use the park’s hydrothermal areas. He’s one of the top scientists in his field.

Inspector
The hydro—what? I will never understand why scientists feel it’s necessary to use long and complicated words.

Dr. Lee
Sorry, Inspector. Hydrothermal means having to do with hot water. Yellowstone’s hydrothermal features include hot springs, geysers, steam vents, and mud pots. I’m sure you do know that Yellowstone has more than ten thousand of these treasures.

Inspector
Well, doesn’t everyone know that? And who is this other gentleman?

Glossary
hydrothermal—having to do with hot water
