Once a prey animal is killed, its carcass becomes an important source of food for many animals, including scavengers. We saw a number of birds circling in the sky; but by the time we found the carcass ourselves, there wasn’t much left.
Inspector (suddenly hopeful)
Then how do you know it was Rosie?
Well, the general size of the carcass was correct; and, of course, we know Rosie had been in the same area a short time before.
